Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age.
Its purpose is to provide experiences to impact the positive development of youth at a critical stage in their lives and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.
The program is carried out through a Venturing crew. Its purpose is to provide experiences that will affect the positive development of youth at a critical stage in their lives and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. A Venturing crew should be run by the youth with adult shadow leadership. A Venturing crew can be coed, all male, or all female.
Local community organizations such as professional organizations, churches, and civic groups initiate specific Venturing crews. Each crew has the responsibility of achieving this purpose by designing its own program. They do this by matching the interests of young adults with the people and program resources within their own organizations. |
