Effective January 1, 2009 every unit going on an outing (requiring a Tour Permit) must have at least one registered leader, who has completed Hazardous Weather Training.  This very important training is available online from Scouting.org through the MyScouting link.
Soon unit leaders will be able to submit local and national tour permits electronically.  This new system takes just four easy steps, and it will save the transportation and training information, so leaders can easily recall it for future permit applications.  All registered unit leaders will have access to Tour Permits from MyScouting, accessed on scouting.org.  Council will approve or return the permit applications using MyBSA.  The approved permit PDF can also be obtained from Tour Permits in MyScouting.  As a reminder, local tour permit applications should be submitted two weeks before the tour and national applications at least one month before the tour start date.  We encourage all Scouting units to use this new service to submit their local and national tour permit applications online.

For more information, check out the HOOC Jan-Feb 2009 Lifeline or Tour Permits in
MyScouting.
Attention Troops!  Advancement information: Please note the new (2009) Eagle application.  DO NOT USE THE OLD FORM.  The National Council, BSA has changed the Eagle Scout Rank application. The new official form will say 2009 Printing on the back of the form.  This is the third change that the National office has implemented regarding these forms over the past year. According to Eagle Scout Services at the National office we will be accepting the 2008 Printing 2nd Edition Eagle Scout Rank Application until July 31, 2009. No earlier editions of this form will be accepted for processing. On August 1, 2009 and after, only the 2009 Printing of the Eagle Scout Rank Application will be accepted.
NEW!!  Annual Health and Medical Record - The one health and medical record for your use.  Replaces former Class 1, 2, and 3 forms, which will be phased out effective immediately.  Begin converting from all former medical forms now.

MYSCOUTING
Two new online trainings have been added through MyScouting E-Learning area. Check out Climb On Safely and Trek Safely.

The new online training course “This is Scouting” will soon replace New Leader Essentials.  However, the development time has taken longer than anticipated and it will not be on the Online Learning Center until the middle of March.
